The Education Committee is looking for member assistance in sharing the information with local schools and PTAs. Please contact Hemant Thakker via info@akronspe.org if you have a contact that can use this information. One of the missions of SPE is to promote plastics education, so why not make sure we promote it within the whole Akron Section (which covers parts of SEVEN counties!). Be sure and contact Kathy with any questions you may have.

The 2005 Awards Night was held May 16, 2005, at Guy's Party Centre. Toth Mold, Inc., sponsored some great appetizers and shared a display on their capabilities. After a great meal, our guest speaker was Coach Gerry Faust, who had great words of wisdom to share with all of us. We presented 17 scholarships and 4 science fair awards. Thanks to Marty Sharp for coming to help us recognize Ken and this year's winner of the Kenneth L. Sharp Memorial Scholarship. We had a special guest from SPE International, Tom Conklin, who helped us reenact the presentations of our 2005 STAR Award and the STRETCH Award won by the student section at the University of Akron. We also honored board member Joe Pfeiffer with the William C. Zekan Memorial Award for service to the section (good job Joe).
