Ohio SPE Networking Event at the University of Akron
We will kick off with a board meeting from 2pm-3pm. All SPE officers and interested members are welcome to attend. SPE National will video conference on membership tracking. We would be happy to pass along any questions ahead of time. We will also discuss communication, sponsors, and outreach (professional and educational).
The main networking event is open to all SPE members and will start at 3pm in the Polymer Engineering Academic Center at the University of Akron. Dean Amis will give the introduction, followed by tours. You will get to see the National Polymer Innovation Center. It houses analytical and characterization labs and pilot scale advanced manufacturing. The tour will then highlight the Akron Polymer Technology Services to see the contract testing lab and training center. We will then walk over to the Goodyear Polymer Center which houses the polymer science department to see the Microscopy and Molecular Characterization Labs.
From 5pm-7pm we will host a reception on the 3rd floor of the Goodyear building. We will have hor d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a student poster presentation. During the reception, tours of the Polymer Modeling and Visualization Center will be available first-come-first-served based on registration. 20min, small group, tours will allow you to experience polymer systems using a 3D headset and interactive simulations.
Member and guest pricing is $25, with retired at $20 and students at $10.

Students interested in presenting their research should email an abstract with their SPE number to nbrostowitz@seamancorp.com by May 16th. Posters can be 72" wide by 48" tall. Registration fees will be waived for SPE student members who present a poster. There are 20 spots available.
