Speaker - John Fellenstein is a dedicated professional educator with the PlastiVan Program, where he has delivered STEM education to students across 14 states since 2017. With a career in education spanning 36 years, he previously served as the Content Specialist for the Akron Global Polymer Academy at the University of Akron from 2014 to 2024, where he managed outreach initiatives for the College of Engineering and Polymer Science
Presentation - We will discuss polymers and plastic applications from the perspective of Applications, Language Arts, History, Chemistry, Physics, Social Responsibility, and Career Opportunities.
Have fun while learning about plastics! We will discuss the history of plastics and synthetic polymers, their importance in our modern society and the chemical and physical properties of these materials. We will gain a better understanding of polymers through engaging activities like manipulating polymer chains and molding plastics.
Various other topics will be covered including polymer processing, sustainability and career opportunities available in the polymer industry.
